Origin Park is an evolving new urban riverfront park of over 400 acres located on the north shore of the Ohio River in Clarksville. The park celebrates the history of the river while embracing the unpredictable nature of the Ohio River and the floods that have shaped the landscape for generations.

While still an emerging project with limited designated areas currently open to the public, Origin Park has already captured national attention, being recognized as one of the nation’s top urban park projects and named the #4 Best City Park by USA Today. This recognition reflects the bold vision taking shape across a landscape once defined by landfills, industrial neglect, and junkyards. Today, more than 80 percent of the planned public parkland has either been acquired or secured through long term partnerships and agreements, including a significant Memorandum of Understanding with the Town of Clarksville.

Origin Park’s vision is to transform this once forgotten riverfront into a premier nature destination that connects the communities of Clarksville, New Albany, and Jeffersonville with the Louisville metropolitan area. By prioritizing environmental restoration, the park seeks to heal a disturbed ecosystem while creating year round recreational opportunities for walking, biking, paddling, and outdoor exploration.

What makes Origin Park especially unique is its innovative funding strategy, which combines public investment, private philanthropy, land partnerships, environmental restoration funding, and revenue generating destination amenities to create a financially sustainable model for long term growth and stewardship.
